Real Madrid

I went to Madrid to see Manchester City Football Club play Real Madrid at the Bernabeu which is a stadium I have always dreamt of watching a match at. An extra bonus was that the team I support would be playing Real Madrid in the Champions League and it was a game I could not miss.

I went on a Thomas Cook Sport package and it was well organised, apart from a ninety minute delay on the way but that was a Monarch clanger as they forgot to load the food onto the plane.

We arrived in Madrid around two in the afternoon and spent the day in the sun with some drinks. I met up with an old friend and relaxed on his roof terrace before meeting back up with the organisers to get the bus to the Bernabeu.

The Bernabeu stadium is a sight to see, three layers of executive boxes and a capacity of 85,454 with mini escalators to take you up each tier as it is so steep.

It is a shame we could not hang on for the win, or even the draw but I saw us score, not once but twice against Real Madrid and take the lead twice. Those seven minutes seemed a lot longer when we singing and celebrating but it did not spoil my day out in Madrid.
