 Post Xmas Day

Day 263
Melbourne, Australia
26th December 2004

Morning, Just come out of the shower after spending Xmas day on St Kilda Beach watching all the locals having the customary bbq xmas lunch in the sun. Everyone was dressed up as Santa or in anything red they could lay there hands on. This is why my hair is looking a bit worse for wear although a hair cut will be arranged at the earliest opportunity.

I fell asleep on the beach and burnt my eyelids, och!och, it is so painful when I blink and when I get tired I start to rub them.

Today is boxing day and everyone has been going mad over the sales and as I live in the city it is impossible for me to get away from it. They started at 7am and people are still fighting over bargins. Nothing planned for the next few days , New years eve I am off to a club and New Years Day I am going to a day festival by the river, more to follow nearer the time.

  3. Hi Grandma and Grandpa and Simon Ffirstly G&G - wish you long life for Yarzheit We're back in Bangkok now - staying in the Banyan Tree We left Cambodia in a hurry to get back to Bangkok as we thought we might have to get to Phuket to help friends , but as it was theyve been found safe we hope. Unfortunately there is one Jewish boy I know , not too well, friend of a friend called Lincoln who is mising from PhiPhi - we all pray for him, he will still be found safe and sound. PG So as we cant go to Vietnam, and I dont really fancy heading down to a thai island such as kho samui , we are checking out flights to see if we can get to Tokyo tomorrow, just waiting to see if we can do it, if so then we'll get out the reigion go to Tokyo for a few days and have our beach holiday in Hawaii instead of Thailand. This earthquake has been shocking on this side of the world, pretty much ruined the holiday in a way, have had thoughts of coming back home, but we'll carry on I think. Not much more to say, hope your all ok in England, and hope your ok Simon in Aus, be careful and dont burn your eyelids, i bet it hurts to blink! lots of love for now MarcusXXX

  6. Well the past few days have been quite depressing with this disastor in Asia and the suffering that they are all going through. I wish I could do more for the people who have lost love ones. My friend has lost some of her family in this unbelievable tragedy and my best wishes go out to her. We at Lonely Planet have been working all day with the press and missing families to help locate there loved ones.
